Cybersecurity, Virtualization and Networking students at Alexandria Technical & Community College can now seamlessly continue their education toward a bachelor’s degree at five Midwest universities.
The college signed articulation agreements in August with Dakota State University in Madison, South Dakota, and Metropolitan State University in St. Paul. Previous agreements are also in place with the College of St. Scholastica, Bemidji State University and Minnesota State University, Moorhead.
“The agreements we now have in place will allow students more flexibility as they advance their cyber knowledge and skills to the bachelors level and beyond,” said Steve Richards, Dean of Business & Information Technology at Alexandria College.
The agreements simplify the transfer process that students will follow and defines exactly what credits and courses are accepted, and what requirements must be completed. This makes it possible for students to start in Alexandria and continue their education at partnering universities with piece of mind that their credits will transfer.
Students transferring to Dakota State University after graduation can expect all 60 of their associate of applied science credits from Alexandria College to transfer into DSU’s Networking and Security Administration bachelor’s degree program.
Similarly, Metropolitan State will accept 55 credits toward a bachelor’s degree in their Cybersecurity program.
Students continuing at St. Scholastica can major in Computer Information Systems with a Custom Concentration. Students continuing at BSU and MSUM can complete bachelor’s degrees in Operations Management and Applied Management, respectively.
“As we continue to develop educational partnerships throughout Minnesota and the region, we grow the opportunities for students to achieve their career and academic goals,” said Alexandria College President Michael Seymour. “For some students, their goal is to join the workforce after their degree completion at Alexandria College. For others, graduation is a checkpoint along the way to their next academic goal.”
In addition to articulation agreements, several programs at Alexandria College have Transfer Pathways in place with other Minnesota State colleges and universities.
