Practical nursing students visited the on-campus Head Start classroom, performing basic assessments, including listening to heart and lung sounds and measuring temperature, pulse, respirations, height, and weight.
These hands-on activities allow nursing students to apply their clinical knowledge in a real-world setting, observing how early education impacts a child's physical and emotional growth. By interacting with the children, nursing students can also offer guidance on health and wellness while learning from experienced educators about creating supportive, nurturing environments. A wellness activity the students completed with the students included teaching about germs and the importance of good hand washing.
